"Random body structure" is the basis for our discomfort within the field of the earth’s gravity. The random state of the facial body is in large part the basis for adaptive holding patterns found today in the majority of the human race.
It’s simple: If you can’t consistently move in postures that are supported by the gravitational force, eventually your body (the structure) begins to degrade. Slumped shoulders, rounded backs, forward head carry are all signs of gravity working against your body. You commonly see it in people.
The result of this daily duel against gravity ultimately results in pain caused by degenerative posture and the body’s attempts to compensate. Shoulder pain can become neck pain. Back pain can become leg pain. But what once was considered the effects of a hard life – or genetic fate – are no longer acceptable.
GravityBody enables you to move within the gravitational field with ease. GravityBody promotes freedom of movement, increased energy, greater athletic performance and life performance.
What is Structural Integration?
Structural Integrators treat the human connective tissue, also called fascia, as malleable clay. Most people are not aware of, nor do they have control over, the connective tissue holding patterns that prevent good posture. These patterns are caused by birth trauma, injury, and the aging process. Recent medical science has aided our understanding of what causes connective tissue to change state: pressure, tension, temperature, and frequency. Structural Integration systematically applies one or more of the these principles to change the state of the connective tissue body, in as little as 5 weeks.
What are the results of Structural Integration Sessions?
Softening the connective tissue allows the human structure to re-tune itself to the gravity field. The results are a progressive relaxing of the whole human structure, including joints and bones and a letting go of holding patterns to achieve a more relaxed place in the gravity field. Clients become aware of the long-held connective-tissue patterns, created in response to perceived strain, and replace them with a relaxing structure that begins integrating with the gravity field. Slumping becomes difficult as an erect posture is the most relaxed state to maintain, much like balancing a upright pole.
Some reported results include:
- Greatly increased flexibility
- A feeling of lightness and freedom
- Improved agility, speed, and balance
- Freedom from back pain, neck pain, and other joint pain
- Good posture, seated and standing
- Overall better sense of well-being
These results are beneficial to any movement activity and for people of all ages. Many sports professionals receive Structural Integration care to optimize their athletic potential. Structural Integration was featured on Oprah with Dr. Oz, on April 26th, 2008. Oprah and guests discussed the benefits of the work. A viewer posed a question about why the effects of massage therapy do not last for more than 24 hours, compared with the long-term effects of Structural Integration.
How is Structural Integration Different?
While there are some similarities between Structural Integration, chiropractic and massage therapy; the differences outweigh the similarities. Structural Integrators systematically change the connective-tissue body, triggering it to naturally align to the gravity field, a process that continues long after the therapy sessions. While pain is a strong motivator for clients to seek alternative therapies, Structural Integration does not seek to cure pain symptoms, but rather focuses on balancing the state of the whole structure, noting how it has adapted to the gravity field, and devising a plan to release the connective tissue patterns that keep the body locked in its current state. Once the body is in transition, the origins of pain become quite obvious to clients: disordered structure.
What's in a Name?
When the connective tissue softens and the bones begin to align to the gravity field, a form of internal intelligence sensitive to gravity, awakens. This internal controller, when tuned to the gravity field, gradually takes over and subsequently guides the individual structure toward integration within the gravity field. Thus the name Structural Integration. The Gravity field guides the re-tuned human nervous system towards a structurally integrated Body, thus origins of the company name become obvious: “Gravity Body” tuned for life.
